ICAN Helping Hands is a community outreach initiative of Inner-City Action Network (ICAN) serving individuals and families experiencing food insecurity, homelessness, and housing instability throughout Pierce and King County.
We believe access to food, essential resources, and compassionate human connection is not charity — it is community responsibility.
Through consistent outreach, trauma-informed engagement, and relationship-driven support, we meet people where they are and walk alongside them toward stability.
Our Mission
To alleviate hunger, restore dignity, and strengthen community bonds by providing consistent access to meals, essential supplies, and person-centered support.
We do more than distribute food.
We build trust.
We create belonging.
Beyond immediate relief, we connect individuals to:
- Behavioral health services
- Substance use recovery (SUD) resources
- Housing pathways
- Community support networks
Our goal is simple but powerful:
No one in our community should be hungry, unseen, or unsupported.
What We Do
- Distribute hot meals and nutritious food
- Provide hygiene kits, clothing, and seasonal essentials
- Conduct street and community-based outreach
- Connect individuals to behavioral health and SUD services
- Support reentry stabilization for returning citizens
- Offer compassionate, non-judgmental engagement rooted in dignity
